In practice, every return visit introduces additional operational cost: repeat civil work, permit coordination, truck rolls, labour scheduling, possible digging and reinstatement, and customer installation delays. At scale, these secondary interventions can become one of the most expensive and operationally disruptive parts of a fibre programme. In many markets, operators are now discovering that the cost of connecting a customer after the initial build phase can materially erode long-term profitability.

How to Scale FTTH Networks Efficiently as Demand Grows
This eliminates the need for multiple site visits, reduces dependence on fibre cabling, and shortens the customer connection from hundreds of metres to just a few metres, ensuring customer connections are quick and guaranteed on the promise date given. Contractors complete remediation work simultaneously during the network build, avoiding the need for future pavement/driveway excavation. Once installed, the fibre is protected, tested, and ready for use, even if customer activation occurs months or even years later. Efficiencies are much improved as 100% of fibre is installed to home boundaries on Day1, not in small qualities of 1-2 homes over 20 repeat visits. More efficiencies are made during home connection as the fibre is waiting for the installer at the boundary to simply run into the house and quickly connect.
This directly meets the challenge in FTTH deployments of achieving a future activation without requiring additional excavation or major engineering work, which so often prevents the successfully conversion of homes into paying subscribers.
Failed installs, missed appointments, and complex drops all contribute to lower take-up rates and slower monetization.
