Emtelle wins FTTH Innovation Award for Homes Passed+ and FiberMag

Emtelle is delighted to be a winner at this year’s FTTH Innovation Awards, which recognise the trailblazing technologies transforming fibre-to-the-home deployment.

The company triumphed in the Passive Infrastructure category for Homes Passed+ featuring FiberMag, a truly innovative solution which accelerates and simplifies ‘last-mile’ connectivity.

The award was presented by the FTTH Council Europe at the FTTH Conference, Europe’s leading fibre summit, held at ExCeL in London.

Homes Passed+ involves pre-installing and pre-testing fibre right up to the boundary of a property during the initial network build, rather than waiting until a customer places a service order. For network operators, this means a huge reduction in the need for repeat site visits, lowers connection costs and enables much faster customer activations.

A core component of Homes Passed+ is Fibermag, Emtelle’s fibre storage and management innovation. FiberMag stores up to 40 meters of excess cable at the property boundary, ready for quick, splice-free customer connections. Equipped with an EM-Marker, the FiberMag is easily and precisely locatable when buried using a standard telecommunications locator frequency.

During the initial build, when crews are on-site, fibre is blown or pushed into the FiberMag. This allows contractors to complete all remediation work in one go. There it remains protected until network operator customers want to activate it, whether it is days, months or years later.

When that activation occurs, FiberMag allows installers to complete final connections to their own customers much more quickly and safely, without any additional civil works.

Tony Rodgers said: “I am thrilled to receive this award for Emtelle. I am especially delighted for our solutions team, led by Solutions Director Colin Kirkpatrick. Homes Passed+ and FiberMag are just one example of how their commitment to excellence and innovation has reshaped our industry and benefited not only our customers but also their own customers.

“Homes Passed+ and FiberMag solve one of the industry’s biggest challenges, the "last mile" connectivity. They transform a complex construction project into a repeatable task, ensuring that high-speed gigabit service is a reality for everyone. In a market where speed and cost-efficiency decide success, this is truly transformative and in my opinion is very worthy of this award.”

Gavin Faulds, Emtelle’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “At Emtelle, everything we do starts with our customers and the challenges they face in delivering reliable, scalable FTTH networks. That’s why it’s especially rewarding to see Homes Passed+ and FiberMag recognised by the industry. These solutions are designed to remove uncertainty from deployment, helping operators get connections right first time, accelerate activations, and reduce operational risk.

This recognition reflects the real impact our customers are achieving in the field: lower costs, faster rollouts, and dependable performance at scale through pre-installed, pre-tested infrastructure.”
