The bridge commenced construction in 2014 and was completed in March 2020. It was built by Daelim of South Korea and the China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), Costing $1.7B Being 30km long it the longest bridge in South East Asia. The bridge was constructed to connect Mengkubau and Sungai Besar in Brunei –Muara district to the Temburong enclave which is physically separated by the Sarawakian district of Lumbang.
Unified National Networks (UNN) engaged Emtelle to supply 54km of 3 Way DBMF 14/10MM Microduct and 54km of 96c SM G652D Mini Cable. The microduct was installed underneath the bridge inside the concrete parapet/void space on a cable tray.
Microduct was supplied in 2km lengths with Mini cable in 6km lengths, coupled with the access chambers in the center of the carriageway and spaced 500-600mtrs apart Microduct jointing and Mini cable blowing presented a challenge. Splice dome closures Were installed at 4-5 points along the length of the bridge on the cable tray for connectivity for mobile antenna and backbone trunk network.
