Emtelle certifies over 300 fibre installation technicians in the Netherlands
Hawick, Amersfoort, 15 June 2009
Emtelle, a world leader in the provision of ducted network and blown fibre solutions, has certified over 300 technicians in the Netherlands. The company started its training programs at the beginning of 2009. The success of these programs underlines Emtelle’s commitment to deliver high-quality products and combine these with optimum support and training.
Emtelle started its training program to further improve the quality of installation of fibre networks in the Netherlands. The company developed a targeted training approach in which technicians that work at Emtelle partners, get a project-specific curriculum. Emtelle involved its partners in developing the training, which also includes certification. Emtelle partner Compose is responsible for the POP / ODF part of the training program. Technicians get an official certification pass, stating their skills. Training can be on site or on an Emtelle training location. The full T&C (training and certification) program includes training, certification, registration and finally communication to all parties involved. The program should result in a continuous improvement of the overall quality of the installed FTTH network.
By taking this highly flexible approach, Emtelle and its partners ensure that fibre networks are installed according to the requirements of the customers. In addition, technicians can enhance their knowledge and skills in a fast-growing area and thereby improve their position on the labour market.
“This training program is not only an important tool for our partners to distinguish themselves in offering highly skilled employees for fibre network installations. It also improves the overall quality of the work and reduces the cost of faulty installations. Installing a fibre network requires knowledge and skills. Therefore effective training is a prerequisite for a successful FTTH role out,” said Jan Honig at Emtelle.
Ricardo van Hoeven, regional manager South at Emtelle-partner Volker Wessels Telecom Infra: “Installing fibre networks requires new skills and knowledge. That’s the reason we welcomed Emtelle’s initiative and participated in developing this program. We now have some 300 certified technicians working on projects. We already see significant improvements in the quality of the installations, which include for example much longer blowing distances.” At Volker Wessels’ projects in Veghel and Schijndel all technicians are certified by Emtelle.
