Fibre Termination
Termination of fibre at the box or cabinet is simpler than with traditional fibre cables:
1. No outdoor sheathing to remove
2. No aramid layers to remove
3. No hard tube to cut through (risking damage to fibres inside)
4. No petroleum gel to clean off (so no risk of gel-contaminated terminations)
The fibre is blown to a convenient point near the termination point, and since it has no outer sheath layers, it can be fed through any final tortuous guide routes, right to the termination tray or box. The friction is so low that fibre unit can often be pushed by hand to its final termination point.
Extra ‘primary’ tubes may be installed as a fibre guide if necessary.
The outer protection is removed, and the ‘standard’ 250 micron fibres inside are clean and dry, not covered in gel.
